Everyone has heard of Flickr, but are you using it in your classroom? Look for CreativeCommons. It you are searching for a photo of a place, Flickr is often better than a search engine. There are so many different ways this amazing resource can be used in a classroom. It's always the first site I look at when starting a geography/history/current affairs lesson, as there are very few places on this planet where a tourist hasn't been and snapped.

FlauntR is a suite of free, web-based image editing tools. There are five tools included in the FlauntR package. In EditR you can touch-up your digital photos. StylR allows you to apply digital effects like backgrounds and frames to you images. PicasR gives you the ability to blend colors, effects, and images. TextR can be used to add text and banners to your images. And PrintR provides a postcard, poster, and printing service (you do have to pay for the printing).

Students own content as well as media from the BBC Motion Gallery and Rip Curl free for the mashing, and can then be shared on social media sites or via email.

A popplet is a big pinboard that you can put boxes or "popples" onto. A popple is container that holds text, photos, and other interesting things such as Google Map or YouTube video. The whole thing was very simple to use, it was very easy to get started. You can also upload media from your desktop to your board. Popplet offers a browser bookmarklet that you can use to add content from other webpages to your Popplet pages. An iPad app is also available.
