I have just started using Pintrest. You can pin anything you find on the web onto a board to keep and/or share. It's easy and fun to do. I am not sure of all it can do yet. More exploring to do!
Capsule looks good, too. You can plan events and keep everyone involved by adding information, pictures, texts, etc. It seems to be a blend of a blog and a Pintrest board. Hmmmm...
Pintrest is very cool - but very addicting. I have friends who make very cool crafts for kids using ideas from there. Also, looking forward to checking out capsule.
The Pintrest board is pretty cool. I especially like how you can notify/share your board with others via Facebook or other social media outlets. It's funny how you will be searching for something and come across an article that would be 'perfect' for a friend or colleague.
I haven't tried Spicy Nodes yet. I love Prezi and use it all the time. My colleague and I make a Prezi for each subsection of the textbook for our students to use.
10 Web 2.o Tools for recording learning. Scroll through the Prezi and click on the links that look interesting to you. There are some great ideas here!
InterventionCentral...a site with "free tools and resources to help school staff and parents to promote positive classroom behaviors and foster effective learning"
Schrock's collection is fantastic. A lot to sift through.
Digital
Content Toolkit...a site which "provides information, support, tools,
ideas, models, research, and a community of practice for educators interested in
using flexible computer technologies to reach and teach diverse learners"
including text, images, sounds, and videos
In addition to the tab for teachers that has a lot of ideas and Web 2.0 listings, I was excited to see a tab for counselors! Among the many available, I was excited to see that it highlights a great tool called Intervention Central. The site itself is interactive, and I have used it to help with behavior charts as well.
all teachers need to be given more significant time
Above all comes the caveat that we must not over romanticise what young people are capable of doing with technology without the structure of learning and teachers acting as guides on the side.
Amy, I think this article is a very refreshing and objective take on technology's possibilities and limitations. Too often it is seen as a silver bullet, and any teachers not using technology are labeled "lazy." Thankfully there are some voices out there reminding us that technology is a tool and useful at times, and useless at others.
I appreciate the meaning behind this comment, but I think we have to err on allowing for trial and error. This fosters creative thinking and the willingness to take risk.
Thanks for sharing this! I really enjoyed looking at the list and seeing all of the different tools out there. Loved the online storage solutions as I was told to clean off my school file because I am taking up too much room.
