"The Mysterious Benedict Society" is fun for both children and adults. Children will love the fact that it's the young ones in the book that have to save the adults. Adults will love the word play in the book - including Nomansan Island; The Mysterious Benedict Society" is a good enjoyable book to read for young and old.

Local celebrity writer, Walt Whitlock, is poisoned at a barbecue at the Townsend home in Winburg. Lieutenant James investigates and finds the tainted bourbon not only in Whitlock's #5 cup but in one of the several cups marked #7. Although he uncovers the reason for so many #7 cups, he still must find the murderer. Elderly neighbor, Lucy Trent, brought the pint bottle of Starsilk Preferred Bourbon to the picnic and Oliver Townsend, Walt's publisher, had an argument with him just before he died, but both claimed innocence.

Life is a big mystery that everyone is trying to solve. Some may already have a handful of clues to figure everything out while others are still probably at the starting point. Literature is the best means to try to understand what life is all about because it is basically the way of life. One great aspect of literature is poetry; it is where works that are filled with aesthetics and ambiguity are found.
