I'm moving out of my apartment in a few weeks and have no idea how I'm going to transport my large appliances like the fridge and washing machine. I've heard that some moving companies refuse to handle these due to their size and weight. Does anyone have experience with movers in Calgary who can take care of big items like this? Should I try to rent a truck and do it myself? Any tips on what to watch out for?

I just went through this exact situation when I moved last month. I also had a large fridge and washer to move, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you have proper equipment and experience. We hired home moving services from Space Movers, and they did a great job. What made a big difference is that they have all the necessary equipment to handle large and heavy items, including dollies, straps, and custom-sized trucks. They even disassembled part of the fridge to fit it through the doorway, which I would have never been able to do on my own. Plus, their team knew exactly how to secure everything in the truck to prevent damage during transport. Another thing is that appliances like fridges need to be transported upright, and not all trucks or movers know this. Space Movers were careful about these details, and I can't recommend them enough. You can check their home moving services; they're reliable and affordable compared to a lot of other companies I looked at. Definitely worth it if you're dealing with big appliances.
