Getting Started: What Hardware Should I Buy First? - 4 views

I've been reading a lot about Bitcoin mining but still feel overwhelmed by the hardware part. There are dozens of ASICs with all kinds of specs and acronyms. Some mention hash rates, others focus on energy efficiency, and a few talk about noise. For someone just getting started in 2025, what should I even look at first?

I remember being exactly in your shoes early last year. Honestly, what helped me most was reading a solid bitcoin mining hardware guide that didn't assume I already knew everything. It explained how hash rate, wattage, and cooling all tie together. I learned that you want to calculate cost per Th/s, but also consider electricity rates and airflow. I ended up choosing an Avalon A1466 because it gave a good balance of 170 Th/s with manageable power usage, and it's not crazy loud. Also, be careful with buying the highest hash rate units if you're just starting out-they might need more support gear than you expect. Once I understood the basics, I was able to compare realistically and avoid overpriced options that didn't make sense for my setup.
