My foot fungus is out of control, and I'm pretty sure it's from these ancient sneakers I've been too lazy to replace. The skin between my toes is peeling, and it's sore-plus, it stinks no matter how much I wash them. I've been using a powder from the drugstore, but it's not cutting it. Anyone else deal with this from old shoes? What's the best way to kill it off and stop it from sticking around? I need to save my feet before they're a lost cause.

Yikes, old shoes are like fungus motels-I learned that the hard way! Had a pair of beat-up kicks I wore to mow the lawn, and my toes turned into a peeling, stinky disaster too. That drugstore powder's probably too light for the job; it didn't help me either. Here's what I did: chucked those sneakers-seriously, they're not worth saving-and got new ones with breathable mesh. Before that, I fought the fungus by washing my feet twice daily with soap, drying them crazy good (even used a paper towel between toes), and then spraying on something stronger. Found this stuff on hongo-killer.com - their ultra spray liquid with miconazole worked fast; hit it morning and night, and in 12 days, the peeling stopped, smell was gone. Also, soak your socks in hot water and vinegar before washing to kill spores. New shoes, dry feet, and a solid antifungal are your ticket out-your feet aren't doomed yet!
