The surge of river Thames slammed worse hit of flood in the capital of Britain where the records of previous years have been broken. The wrath of river had already thrashed the banks of coastal areas in London. Paving the way from torn coastal barriers, the flood had made its way to the village while hitting the normal life of civilians there.

After releasing satellite measurements explaining the  Kerala floods, NASA has now released imagery that, in vivid detail, shows the devastation suffered by Kerala. The images, presented in a before and after format, show large swathes of land in Kerala still submerged under flood waters.

In the past few days, floods have ruthlessly created havoc in  Kerala. But in such trying times what stood out is people's resilience. Take for example this tea-seller, who's running his stall standing in flood waters. And the way he is operating is not only unique but also mind-blowing.

Since August 15, nine people have been killed by leptospirosis or rat fever in the flood-ravaged state of Kerala. Among them, five were relief workers. Notably, 196 cases of leptospirosis have been reported so far, and a further 37 suspected leptospirosis deaths are awaiting laboratory confirmation.

For eight days, without any pomp, Kannan Gopinathan toiled at relief camps in Kerala, carrying packages on his head, and offloading relief material. Of course, no one knew he was an IAS officer. Gopinathan is yet another among the thousands of people who have selflessly rushed to Kerala's aid.

PM of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan annonced yesterday that 90% of rescue operation has been completed by NGO's and Government Agencies, but the fishermen of kerala has played a important role they worked selflessly and tirelessly toward the massive rescue operation.
