Following China, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is now planning to set up a  satellite ground control station in the bleak desolation of the North Pole. The station will primarily augment Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) operations that are crucial for civilian needs like disaster management, and for the needs of the armed forces.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (ISAT) offers the following academic programs at the undergraduate level: 1. B.Tech. (Physical Sciences) with space applications in the areas of Astronomy, Earth System Science, Astrophysics, Planetary Sciences and Remote Sensing.

The police have arrested one Janagama Srinivas (39) in the murder of S Suresh Kumar (56), an employee of ISRO's National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC). Reportedly, Srinivas had sexual relations with Kumar and killed him at his home in Ameerpet, Hyderabad, after the latter refused to pay him.
