The Centre on Friday accepted amendments in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and approved death penalty in cases of aggravated sexual assault of kids. Making the announcement, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said this was done to make the law stricter. Here's more.

A 27-year-old Muslim man was arrested on Monday for confining a woman (he met on a dating site) for days and repeatedly raping her. He also made videos and took nude photos of hers. If this is not enough, this case has an even darker side. He also showed her gory photos like, of someone strapped to a chair, surrounded by bombs, and made her listen to speeches of controversial evangelists.

Maharashtra Congress has taken strong objection to two channels for airing serials focusing on schemes of Centre, at a time when Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in place for the upcoming polls. The party approached the Election Commission on Monday and sought a ban on these channels.
