this is so hard to decide..... I could choose any number of social networking tools, e-learning platforms etc that I use and which make my life easier, but I am going to talk about my latest discovery which I am currently excited about.

I came across this suite of helpful tools when searching for the much-lauded Audacity recording tool. It seemed to have disappeared - though I note today it has returned but no longer as a free download. Whilst it was presumably being upgraded, Audacity helpfully pointed me at this site NCH

I have found the sound recorder and editor extremely easy to use, and it effortlessly converts files from wav to mp3 or back again..... there is also a downloadable programme from the same people which converts mov (quicktime) (and other formats) files to wma so you can edit them on MoviePlayer.

As I am just starting to get into podcasting, these little tools are fantastic. I just made my first audio file for students which I uploaded into Blackboard - they responded very enthusiastically as they are all distance learning students and most have never met me face to face: it made a nice change from the usual written announcement or all student email.
