In 2002, Adaptation of the Nick McDonell novel "Twelve." In 2002, then 17-year-old McDonell wrote a novel that starkly depicted teenage drug use and decadence on the Upper East Side. The story follows a high school dropout-turned-drug dealer. His lucrative life sours when the dealer's cousin is brutally murdered on an East Harlem playground and his best friend is arrested for the crime.

Storms fermented on the icy skyline promising only winds to level even the mightiest of trees to the dirt. David cast his eyes to the charcoal sky, his consideration held by a brilliant streak, a split in the cloud layer where the sun spilled through as quick as water through a broke dam. The downpour was guaranteed, the twist as of now unleashed, however there would be daylight and warmth by morning, time to remake and repair.  The mists over her overflowed and surged over the enlivening sun, throwing the glade into a shadowy murkiness. A rugged electrical discharge tore the sky down the middle and she started to run, jumping as every frosty raindrop penetrated her skin. The vicious wind whipped the blonde hair around her face and tears blended with downpour as a desensitizing coldness grasped her heart. Thunder moved over the sky, appearing to split the world down the middle and uncover the fierceness of the divine beings. It resonated around the green scene, frightfully resounding as the young lady urgently scanned for asylum.  She discovered none.

Erin's (Drew Barrymore) wry wit and unfiltered frankness charm newly single Garrett (Justin Long) over beer, bar trivia and breakfast the next morning. Their chemistry sparks a full-fledged summer fling, but neither expects it to last once Erin heads home to San Francisco and Garrett stays behind for his job in New York City. But when six weeks of romping through the city inadvertently become meaningful, neither is sure they want it to end.
