7:30pm|Ishara International Puppet Festival|Small Fables (45mins/Non Verbal) Dir. & Prod. Finger and Thumb Theatre Country. UK. Fables are little stories in which animals, forces of nature and inanimate objects encounter each other in a humanised way to explore some foible of human nature or highlight a moral lesson. Inspired by these little encounters and the great fables of Aesop and La Fontaine, Small Fables is a magical performance focusing on small encounters between many hand shadow animals. Traditional routines combine with intriguing light-play to create a beautiful and hilarious world where beautiful and hilarious things happen a camel runs too fast (much to the consternation of his rider!); crabs, fish and sea-snails scamper, swim and slide in a jam-jar sea with mirror-ball bubbles; a rabbit eats finger grass and is interrupted as he sings his song; a shadow dog sticks his tongue in the puppeteers ear; two swans meet and transform into a love-heart; a bear dances the blues while a boy who cries wolf once too often gets his comeuppance and all of this made with just two hands! Tickets at Rs. 350 available at the venue. Suitable for all age groups.
