This article explains the benefits to implying the Steve jobs model for education reform to our schools. Steve jobs model presents technology as a solution to the problems in our education system. The author used an example of an iPod. Just as an iPod compelled the music industry to accommodate its customers, we can use technology to force the education system to meet the needs of the individual students. The article mentions that each year public schools are producing fewer and fewer graduates. To improve our numbers we need to move away from the one size fits all approach. Students outside of school take technology for granted, when they read, listen to music, shop etc. However, when walking into a classroom it's like going back in time. With Steve jobs model of education, lessons would be brought alive.
Steve jobs model for education reform presents an updated approach to education. Implementing technology as a part of everyday teaching can be beneficial to both teachers and students. Although his model in theory is good, implementing this approach may be more difficult. For a majority of schools financial barriers may prevent the implementation of technology in every classroom, for every student. One way around this barrier could be rather than investing money in textbooks that are outdated money can be invested into technology to boost performance. For teacher education candidates this concept seems good in theory but may be hard to implement depending on the schools resources. Steve jobs model of education moves away from a teacher based learning style, to a student focused lessons. Students will be on differentiated plans based on their needs.Technology is not going to replaces teachers but instead give students lesson plans tailored to their needs.
