The Canadian Council for Geographic Education is an organization that provides geography elementary students with the opportunity of making the study of geography more exciting for them. There are different levels that students can compete at and it can also be at the Provincial or even National level. Grade 4-6 students compete at Level 1 and grades 7-10 compete at Level 2. Level 1 only offers students to compete at the school level only whereas Level 2 allowed students to compete nationally. The winners in the schools of level 2 will be given the opportunity of competing nationally. All students have to be under the age of 16. Only one competitor can be sent by each school. The competition allows students to test their knowledge and apply their geographical thinking abilities in a fun, easy, educational setting. This opportunity could be used as a means of creating more interest in geography and to provide students with something fun to work towards.
