I have not been happy with the output of my Twitter account. I have come to the conclusion that I am not following enough people, and that some of the people I am following are not right for me. I started to do a search on the internet for Twitter and education and came up with this resource. It includes a long, varied, categorized list of people and organizations to follow in education. The categories include such topics as Special Education, Technology, iPads, Design, General, etc. I have started following several of the people/organizations recommended by this resource and am already getting much more out of Twitter.

We have just started teaching informative writing. This guide has great information, some of it grade specific, on why and how to teach this type of writing.

I have recently had a child placed in my class who is in the foster care system. This child has a background that is unique amongst the children in my class. As the honeymoon phase has worn off, it is apparent that this child's needs are also unique. I have been doing some reading on the subject of kids in foster care, and came across this article. It is a good place to start. I have also been directed towards the book, "Parenting the Hurt Child," by Keck and Kupecky. Although written for adoptive parents, there is valuable information and insight for teachers as well.

This is a great news and current events site for kids. The site is organized by topic and by month/year. The articles contain links to related information which can be used for further research. Information is easy to find. The presenter at MassCUE who talked about the site used it in second grade, but children in older grades will definitely enjoy it too.

This is an interesting page by Kathy Schrock which includes charts detailing iPad apps and Android apps that support Bloom's Taxonomy.

Interesting article that describes the four pillars of the flipped classroom model. Examples are given of improved academic performance by students at schools using this model.

This blog was written a couple of years ago, but it has great information on the Digital Learning Farm. There is a chart of iPad apps to be used for each of the jobs in the Farm model. I found the chart to be a valuable source of information for someone starting to implement this model.
