Lowell's UTEC reopens by taking the LEED in green issues - Lowell Sun Online - 1 views

  •
When I was younger I use to go to this youth center and hangout with my friends all day long, before I left I remember just talking to architects about this green building. Now, years later the United Teen Equality Center in my home town is the oldest, Platinum LEED Certified building in the country. This new building is an amazing step for the staff to continue to help the trouble teens in my town of Lowell, MA. And their not only doing it in a big way but a way that is good for our environment as well.

Bangladesh's Leather Pollutes Environment, Harms Workers & Government Looks Away (Video... - 1 views

  •
This article/video shocked me, it talks about how the production of leather is affecting the environment in a specific neighborhood of Bangladesh; where it is produced. I was mainly shocked about how the workers are treated and how the chemicals are affecting them but the government or employers are not trying to help them.

Does An Ethical Laptop Exist? : TreeHugger - 1 views

  •
This has nothing to do with my major, but I thought it was interesting and a quick read. It talks about how there is not a laptop in the market that is ethically made to help the environment. Most of us own laptops and high technology phones but I don't think we think about how their manufacturing affects the environment.

But for different designers and brands sustainability means different things, like being ethical or using environmentally friendly products. It really all depended on the designers and their definition of sustainability.

10 Eco-Friendly Fashion Brands We Can Get Behind | Fashionista - 1 views

  •
This story is a bit long but it explains some fashion brands that are actually eco-friendly and not just claiming to be for the buzz that they can get. I noticed their pricing is high, so it reminded me of how in class how the professor mentioned that environmentally friendly programs can cost a lot for institutions I guess its also the same for fashion brands.
