This site gave a fantastic explanation of balance in web design. I actually think I got more from reading this than I did reading the text book. I loved the visual examples that this gave. Definitely a good read.
"Writing today is pervasively and generally digital: composed with digital tools; created out of word, image, sound and motion; circulated in digital environments; and consumed across a wide range of digital platforms." This is a good link describing the significance of digital writing.
"The word culture has many different meanings. For some it refers to an appreciation of good literature, music, art, and food." To understand how new media and technology connect to culture, we must understand what culture is. This is a great resource!
I know I already shared one page but I thought that this was a good one as well. This blog post really talks about remediation and how it is used in the creation of new digital media as well as what remediation means to the lay person.
This site has a really good diagram of the difference between immediacy and hypermediacy. One difference is that immediacy is like a virtual reality while hypermediacy is like tv news reports
Formal Report
This website provides tables and graphics along with detailed text about the proper way to format a written report for technical writing purposes. The most important message that can be taken away from this site is that in order to have a successful report, each component must be proper placed and present.
This is a great website about formal reports, how they should look and what they should contain. I know this webpage is pretty long but it contains alot of good information about comprising formal reports.
Remediation: This article provides an extended definition of remediation in relation to new media. It also explains the double logic of remediation, which consists of American culture's desire to multiply media while erasing all traces of mediation through immediacy.
Thank GOD for wikia and their simple breakdown of remediation / new media. I read this and finally understand what that article was really about! It is very to the point.
Watching this video, which was linked within the introduction to rhetoric on the Purdue OWL site, helped me become cognizant of the origins of rhetoric and the historical background of the skill. It's a very good primer before diving into the readings.
This blog discusses the use of whitespace in web design. It gives very good insights into how whitespace should be used, and when it should not be used.
