Millions of homes to get energy efficiency displays | Green Tech - CNET News - 0 views

  •
Energy information displays, which are the 'face of the smart grid,' will be installed in tens of millions of homes to help consumers save electricity, projects Pike Research. Read this blog post by Martin LaMonica on Green Tech. There are already a number of home energy monitoring devices which can cost anywhere from less than $100 to a few hundred dollars. But the field is getting crowded with a number of providers from very different fields. The smart-grid stimulus program is expected to result in over one million homes getting these displays for free from utilities.

Facebook Privacy Changes - 0 views

  •
Facebook has changed its privacy policy to include a twitter like profit scheme. Facebook is now making the adds and tests you take eligable to be sent back to the developer for research purposes to see what you are interested. This then helps its advertising on the side bar of the website. I chose this article because I think its good to get the word out that whatever you do on Facebook is being sent back to the developer. That then allows them to view your profile to see what you are interested in. To me this seems a little over-kill ion the fact that they shouldn't be able to see your entire profile. But with facebook being free they can do anything.

AT&T and Verizon Drop Silly Map-Related Lawsuits - 1 views

  •
A few weeks ago I made a diigo on the Verizon AT&T lawsuit over the Verizon commercials. According to a note we just received from AT&T, "Verizon and AT&T have dismissed the litigation between them in Georgia and New York." Here is the note: "IT IS HEREBY STIPULATED AND AGREED by and between Plaintiff/Counterclaim Defendant Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless ("Verizon Wireless") and Defendant/Counterclaim Plaintiff AT&T Mobility LLC ("AT&T") that pursuant to Rule 41(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure: (a) Verizon Wireless's claims against AT&T in the above- captioned action are hereby dismissed without prejudice, and (b) AT&T's counterclaims against Verizon Wireless in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed without prejudice." With the back and forth battle between AT&T and Verizon commercials have been less directed to the phones, and more directed to the service provided. I personally rather hear about the new phones and great applications, rather than in No Where, Nevada if I will be getting 3G YouTube goodness. What clearly defines 3G is more important to me. AT&T should target their commercials on how much faster the 3G network is compared to Verizon. I hope that in the near future we can find much more informative commercials than bickering.

Modern Warfare 2 Terrorist Level - 1 views

  •
Since alot of our talk during diigo time is about Call of DUty i decided to keep it up and to post this video of the terrorist level in CoD. CoD in the beginning of the game gives you a notification that sames some content may be offending to you and you have the option to skip it. In this level you walk into the airport and shoot down civilians. Then as you proceed through the airport and continue killing civilians some opposition comes up. Police come but they stand no chance against your light machine guns. After that the swat team shows up with their riot shield. Now my concern with this is that should this be in a video game that little kids play? Yes it is rated mature but playing on live you meet alot of underage kids and at this point in there life i don't think that these are very good images.

Review: Assassin's Creed II Is the Ultimate Killer App | GameLife | Wired.com - 0 views

You can't see me. I'm there in the shadows, crouched down on the roof above you, dangling on the ledge below you. Maybe you know I'm nearby. Maybe you're afraid for your life. You should be. Because by the time you realize where I am, you'll be dead. For all you gaming fans, I believe that this Assassins Creed II is going to blow the last one out of the water. The reviews and screen plays of this game looks better than the first. I personally cant wait to buy this game.

Smart grid potential gated by broadband | Green Tech - CNET News - 1 views

The intersection of broadband and energy can lead to efficiency and technology innovation. What's needed is wider access, standards, and right regulations, say execs and officials at an FCC hearing. Read this blog post by Martin LaMonica on Green Tech.

Microsoft Investigating screen of death - 2 views

  •
This article explains how some people are now getting a new screen, dubbed the black screen of death. Apparently there are 10 scenarios in which this can happen where you login and all that is there is a Microsoft explorer icon and nothing else. It came with the last security update on November 10th. I chose this article because it seems t go with the latest trend of the snow leopard versus Windows 7 debate. It used to be called the blue screen of death but apparently that isn't the "in" thing anymore so it is being changed to the black screen of death. Hopefully this will be fixed in a timely manner or else we may have some vista like views again. Just a side note I haven't gotten the black screen!

Photo of Boeing's Matrix Laser Destroying an Air Drone - 1 views

  •
Boeing has successfully tested their new Matrix laser over airborne targets, which is a world's first. In total, they shot down five drones at various ranges. That's a lot of pew pew in a day. This could be proven a high need necessity when either the world ends in 2012, or for some reason a collision with a outer space object will have a collision course with the world. I do have many questions about how if this will be used in the battle field. I also wonder how long it will be till this can be shrunk to a smaller size and start production into drones themselves. I give it 3 years, till this makes headline news on how something went wrong, cough cough, LRC, then we can see much more from Boeing and many more companies.
