An interesting article about an APRN fellowship. It is a yearlong program that has classroom sessions, simulations, and peer-to-peer support networks. The program is aimed at facilitating the APRN transition and reducing burnout. It seems to have some good results!

Here's a good, quick article that gives tips for the transition from RN/student to an APRN in the workplace.

This article is about a study that sought to describe the process necessary for a successful transition of the student nurse to a professional, as well as what kind of support system enables this progression. It focused more on what was more likely to aid in a student's success. This article reviews the importance and benefits of having a real strong and supportive mentor during that transition from student ARPN to practitioner. This is a hard time for many to adjust to and having a mentor is a key element for new practitioners to safely make the transition and to maximize their learning.

Personally I think NP residencies are a very important vehicle for transitioning into practice, and should be financially supported by the government the same way that medical residencies are supported!
