This article does a great job of outlining the historical timeline of nurse practitioners in the ED setting. The main thing I took away from this article is that the role of ENPs is relatively new as a whole field. It also shines a light on our new credentialing exam that becomes available in January 2017. This is a great article to access to find out further information pertaining to the ENP specialty
This article looks into the topic of an APRN's scope of practice, most specifically in the Acute Care setting. Although this article focuses on APRN's in the acute care setting, it makes an important statement that APRN's are not limited by the setting in which they practice, but rather by the need of the patient they are seeing. In addition to managing emergent and acute conditions, APRNs are also responsible for placing a large emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention when interacting with their patients.
