A great site for students and teachers to use for virtual labs and activities. It offers virtual labs and activities for science and math subject areas for grades K-12 and even higher education.

Tools that you can use in your classroom. Ever feel limited? Well this website gives you resources where you no longer have to; just because you may not have the "latest" technology does not mean there is not a way.

This middle school gives great resources for virtual fieldtrips and scavenger hunts that you can do with your students. We all know that budget cuts have limited the ability for students to participate in really neat fieldtrips. Well, these sites offer a virtual tour with the same information, videos, and pictures. The best part is they are free!

Edublog Awards Winners 2011. Lists winner and several runners up for various student, teacher, class, library, ed tech, and administrator blogs. Also recognizes other categories such as best mobile app, free web tool, most influential blog post, educational wiki, open PD/webinar series, and use of a social network. I would recommend using this page for resources and ideas for creating your own educational blog.

This website is very nice for helping students learn different concepts using interactive puzzles and manipulative.

A very practical explanation of finding images that one is free to use via Creative Commons licenses via the image sharing site Flickr. Also included are concrete summaries of each specific license type. The author mistakenly refers to CC-licensed images as "non-copyrighted," but this is not accurate technically. A copyright owner may choose to license her work for reuse/remixing, but in doing so, she does not give up her copyright. Creative Commons exists with copyright not as an alternative to it.

This research article provides an overview of how transformative learning experiences can be created through instructional design.  The aim is to use instruction to make learning more experiential, personally relevant and transformative to students.  The authors explain a framework for providing transformative learning experiences, including several indicators that fall into the categories of developing personal meaning, competence with the subject and relationships.  The authors also present guidelines for designing these experiences, including applying design fundamentals, crafting the learning experience and teaching and facilitating to inspire learning. This is the website I use for my class blog.  It is quick for you and your students to register, it is safe for students to use and the format is simple, yet effective.  I have already witnessed some amazing learning and sharing on this site.

All grades, all skills, provides explanation when students are incorrect, rewards, goals, badges to earn! It isn't free, but get enough teachers on board and your school could purchase for everyone. Teachers are sent class reports: we print them out and hang them up outside our classrooms "Miss Sipe's class has answered 3,000 problems on IXL"

Students can publish their writing! I have noticed an increase of motivation: one, they have to go through the steps of the writing process to log on to KidBlog because they only use it to publish and two, students truly think about their writing because their peers will be reading and commenting in on it. You can also open up their blogs for the world to view and comment! I cannot say enough great things about this site.
