Project Gutenberg - free ebooks - 0 views

Free literary and reference materials. Over 30,000 titles available. It was mentioned in "Integrating Technology and Digital Media in the Classroom" (Shelly, Gunter, Gunter 2010), but I thought it was important enough to make another note of.

This is a very well, designed and user friendly classroom blogging tool. I have been using it with my fifth graders and it is working very well. I can review all of the content before allowing it to be posted. I can make comments and mark errors and re-submit it to the student to be corrected. I can even pull up a blog as an example and edit it in front of the class without telling them whose blog it is. Pretty cool :-)

This resource is excellent for K-6 Writing/Language Arts teachers. Teachers or students can spin four different wheels which will result in an interesting combination of four different plot elements that can be used to create a story.

If you teach 3rd-8th grade this is an excellent tool for reviewing parts of speech. Using the old "mad libs" concept of creating ridiculous stories by replacing words before reading the story, this site engages students in grammar, and they don't even know it :-) It includes a "parts of speech help button" and plenty of different stories.

Room 108 Kids Stories - 1 views

Cool site for animated stories to share with the class. There are fiction and non-fiction. This site is unique because it keeps the stories short and to-the-point. User's can click on different links like "cool software" related to the story.

Great website for K-6 Educators for enrichment and supplemental materials for Science and Social Studies. Students can use the site to explore information that is formatted in a fun and easy-to-read way. Or, they can use the site to play games, take quizzes, look at photos and maps, look up crafts and recipes, enter contests, and more. Teachers can use the site to project on an interactive whiteboard for quizzes and whole-class games. I like the site because it is culturally-rich and informative, yet kid-friendly.

Really like this one! Categorized by K-5, 6-8, and Educator sections. Provides a lot of very relevant, interactive, hands-on, engaging ideas. I plan on using this one frequently as enrichment for my more advanced students as well as encouragement for my less-motivated ones.
