Sometimes we may think that our young students are too young for technology, but given the world that we live in it is still important to integrate it into our classes. Here are some tips for integrating technology in PK-Kindergarten (and probably other primary grades as well).

The State of Florida's Department of Education has an overall plan for the implementation of educational technologies in K12 schools. Below the conceptual graphic, you will find a link to the pdf of the complete 52 page document. It is worth a skim to find out how Florida schools' integration of technology compares to that of schools in other countries. There are also a number of resources available to Florida teachers of which you may be unaware.

According to this FDOE 2012 report, Florida has a plan to incorporate technology in our schools, which involves provision of "personalized learning" environments, staff training and leadership, and availability of networks.

A great way to combine current events and science in the older grades. 

This site provides many applications for pictures or video such as edit, download, add, and design. The site also offers lessons for students to acquire skills. This is useful when the student is using the site to design and add three-dimensional effects of the classroom that help students visualize the environment and their effects through the image to develop the sensory side of the student. The student can also download images on the site and engage with other students, teachers, and parents.

I could not have said this any better!! "... In the past, online learning has tended to be isolating and less participatory and has been distinct from using technology in the classroom. But going forward, interactions will be key. Just as people engage in online interactions-around virtual sports teams, cooking, or whatever-students will be able to engage in participatory learning experiences online in and out of the classroom" My previous online classes I felt really alone. There was no collaboration except for group assignment. We all had a name but no identity. However, in today's learning environment, online learning is anything but boring and lonely. There are endless ways to connect. Being able to connect with classmates/peers and share information can be very rewarding. .
