  • overall it is a really great PowerPoint.
    • Hae Young Kim

      I couldn't agree more.  :-)
  • I highly doubt I would ever use in my middle/high school English classroom.
    • Hae Young Kim

Maybe not for your lesson. But as a teacher, you need to manage students' scores and report the results. Or you need to create grading books for your personal use.  Let's see what we can do.

  • so my students will all be old enough that they will be allowed to use the computer
    • Hae Young Kim

Yes, your students will have digital textbooks like ipad.
  • I found cool about the wiki tool we used was that it provided information on the last user to update the page, time of update, and what they changed
    • Hae Young Kim

Right. History logs shows everything. So, when you need a group work, you may create a wiki page,  invite your members, and work collaboratively. You can share the history logs :-)

  • s a teacher pre-approving websites that students can use in their searches can help to ensure that students are learning the correct material.
    • Hae Young Kim

Yes, I agree. Also you can teach students how to evaluate websites so that they can choose proper ones.

    • Hae Young Kim

      I am glad you did!

      But very different from powerpoint!

  • I just used the same form of searching I always do
    • Hae Young Kim

I know... many people do it. Just remember one or two new things and use them for two weeks. Then you can create more effective habits for interent searching.

    • Hae Young Kim

Inspiration is totally different from Photoshop. The main purpose of Inspiration is to promote your logical thinking through visualizing your mental models.  Or when you want to find causal-effect relationships in a complex problem, drawing visual maps should be useful for students and teachers too!
  • I quickly learned my lesson and I want to keep my future students from making the same foolish immature mistakes.

Hello, World! (Blog Post #5) | Becoming the Leader - 0 views

  • any innovative way of searching is going to give me a major advantage in my teaching career. :/
    • Hae Young Kim

Your searching strategies might be better than things we talked over the class.  What if your students do not know how to search? Your skills to searching information has been improved through many practices and experiences.  But, your students may not have the experiences/skills. In that case, you need to teach how to find useful information effectively and efficiently. Don't you think?

  • In high school people who plagiarized got penalized for it. Also students need to cite their sources whenever they use it. Teachers have to make up their own material for tests or exams, but they can borrow some material. I don’t know if teachers cite their sources, but I do know that some teachers do not.
    • Hae Young Kim

How would you deal with these concepts as a teacher, developing your own instructional materials and having students who may use other sources to create their own works (listen to the podcast on this topic to find out more!).
  • assignment.
    • Hae Young Kim

A paragraph on your views about using the Internet to support student research. When is it useful? Not useful? Look to Chapter 3 for ideas and inspiration. I cannot find this paragraph :(
  • inspiration
    • Hae Young Kim

Inspiration is a tool to help you represent your mental model of a concept (causal effect or showing logical relationship between nodes). I would recommend you to look at more examples within your subject (elementary, math, social studies, science) and you will find educational benefits of inspiration.
  • ...4 more annotations...
  • little group activities
    • Hae Young Kim

for what? What skills you want to teach via 'group activities? The first paragraph should state:  how you might use PowerPoint to support student learning at each knowledge dimension in a particular lesson. Be explicit in your example!  What are 'knowledge dimensions?' (hint: Bloom's taxonomy) Then, think a specific lesson (teaching science lesson?) After that, state how you would use powerpoint to teach each knowledge dimension for the lesson.
  • don’t know anyone who uses adaptive technology

If you go to library, ask them about adaptive technology. They will show you what types of adaptive technology FSU library has.

incorporate your reflection on a weekly podcast.
  • better form.
    • Hae Young Kim

Also you can use 'wiki' for your group work. You can create a wiki page and invite your members. You can check the group work progress and each member's contribution to the work.

Your blog journal#2 did not include the important requirement.  Your second post should contain: A paragraph on how you've used MS Word as a student and how you've seen your teachers use MS Word. Also discuss any new ideas you got from Chapter 9 and how you might choose to use them as a teacher. A paragraph about your experience with copyright and fair use of materials in an educational environment. How would you deal with these concepts as a teacher, developing your own instructional materials and having students who may use other sources to create their own works (listen to the podcast on this topic to find out more!). A paragraph on new skills you acquired from working on this week's assignment (Word & Graphics 1) and reflect what you like about it/what you don't like about it, how you can improve it next time, and how what you learned from the assignment can be used in your future career.

Wiki is collaboration_based web page. So, you could not fully experience how wiki works during the limited time. You may create a wiki page if you need to do a group work (other than EME2040 class). Invite your members and work collaboratively. You can share the history log to see each member's contribution to content (when, how, what they edit, remove, or add contents)

  • because young children who become reliant on technology to express themselves is a problem that can follow a student though life, I believe that basic handwriting abilities should still be emphasized in elementary classrooms.
    • Hae Young Kim

I agree! But... maybe... your students will use an electronic pencil to connect their digital textbooks along with keyboard.  (you know keypad for writing and drawing?)
  • At a very young age students might not fully understand the difference between paraphrasing and copying and may think they are creating their own work and it is important to explain the difference while not grading to harshly in these cases.
    • Hae Young Kim

      Yes... I think so too..:-)
