Rilla Alexander: Without the Doing, Dreaming Is Useless :: Videos :: 99U - 3 views

  •
Awesome video on procrastination and dreaming and process. Students PLEASE COMMENT ON SPECIFIC ASPECTS THAT YOU agree with or find especially good advice. DON'T BE VAGUE. For example what does she do that you perhaps do (avoid or jump from thing to thing) or what did she do to solve this that you can or do already?

It was interesting but than again not everyone can think like her so it didn't really help me.i don't really have a problem with pushing ideas away i just don't get any or they are to much like someone elses so i start a new one and then finish. i usually do things the minute i get it. but the whole deadline thing was a good idea. and "without the doing the dreaming is useless" was perfect but the doing is my favorite part.

this video makes me think of me and when i work on my business. For a long time i would procrastinate on thinks like what i want to make, where i want to sell, how i was going to go about making everything. then i got super serious when i couldn't do a con i really wanted to do because i was not ready for it. i started making lists of stuff to buy, sketching ideas of cute things to make, saving websites i got my stuff form to go back to. So not i just concentrate on doing it. I have great cons where i sell a lot of stuff and i have cons where i do badly. Sometimes when i'm in the middle of jewelry, i come up with better ideas but i still stick with it and save it for the next con. :3

i enjoyed watching this and i think people should follow there dreams more

While watching this video i realized that i sometimes do a lot of the things that she mentioned. I did not like her book at all but the message was true and clear.
  •
this is a really awsome video it helped me that if you dont procrastinate things will come together and i really enjoyed her aspects on life cuse she has a very positive attitude about things. and also she has an amazing accent :)
  •
I understood what she was saying and i do a lot of the things she mentioned. But i didn't really care for the book it was confusing, especially at the end.
  •
    I totally know the feeling.
  •
Very interesting, her thoughts on this subject. It takes a bit of a turn on the procrastination thing, with how she explains less of not doing it, and more of that you need to stop thinking for a minute, and just simply start doing it.

I liked the book with the cool pictures. I also liked how she explained things. Definitely something everyone should see i found it very inspiring.

  • Whereas it is mandatory that you respect your colleagues in the class (I don't tolerate abusive behavior at all), we are here to get work done. Please check your ego at the door. I need you to be willing to say what you think about others' work and to hear potentially harsh criticism about the work you've done. In order to become better artists, we must be willing to speak openly about the issues at hand and to dispense with qualifying opening remarks such as "this is just my opinion" and the like.
