Image Source Some people may write off sports as mere entertainment, but perhaps they should look a little closer. Sports can not only ignite the passions, allegiances and fanaticism of millions, but also help people to overcome racial prejudice and discrimination.

Shane Koyczan - To This Day poem - 2 views

  •
One of the most beautiful poets ever. This poem is about bullied children. when i listen to his words and the music in the background i picture images of what his poetry is portraying.
  •
I liked this video because it was funny but at the same time extremely serious. He had very interesting stories that kept my attention.
  •
I saw this a few years ago, outstanding. I especially love the part about the homework revenge. I am not certain how this relates to the original question. Yes indeed, I picture many of the scenarios he describes, he is a good storyteller. Most kids I know who are bullies have been bullied. Does that mean we should excuse the way they treat other people? I don't know many people who weren't mercilessly picked on as children for some short-coming. It seems to me everyone should just be kind to each other, even if they don't know them-- or even if they are teachers. :-)

David Griffin: How photography connects us | Talk Video | TED.com - 2 views

  •
A solid video explaining the importance of photography within our community.
  •
I like this because it's telling us why photography is more than just taking some nice pictures but how it's a beautifully unique way to show things and connect people. To me it's a way to tell a story. Or express emotions by letting others see exactly what you saw. And a lot of people don't understand the importance of these things.
  •
JorDAN, I can get the connection from the title. How does he do this? What point does he make that tells you why or how photo is important in our community?

Life along the Nile [ushistory.org] - 0 views

The ancient Egyptian writing system, hieroglyphics, was advanced by 3100 B.C.E. The complex system included numbers and an alphabet as well as other symbols. None of the achievements of the remarkable ancient Egyptian civilization would have been possible without the Nile River. There is always a connection between landscape and how a people develop.

Romans clothing indicated social status. The man on the far right, who wears only a tunic, was probably from one of the lowest classes - a slave or a freedperson. The man on the far left wears a toga, the costume of a Roman citizen.
