I'm known as Senti (a nickname with a long history) and I am totally stuck in a 1960s timewarp. I missed the 1960s myself - being born in 1979 - but developed a love for this decade very early on, and now live in a 1960s house decorated with the appropriate vintage wallpaper and furniture, wear mainly 1960s clothes, am a self confessed knee-high boot addict.

We chart the style icons and key trends that influenced the 1960s fashion scene... From Brigitte Bardot's beehive to Mary Quant's geometric prints, every 1960s fashion icon contributed their own signature style to the decade. It was the era of the girl group, the gamine supermodel and the original IT-girls and the Sixties still provides designers today with an endless source of inspiration.

By the 1960s, fashion involved a great deal of experimentation - something a Ruchette never fears when it comes to styling! From Jackie Kennedy's pillbox hats, to Audrey Hepburn's drainpipe pants, to the British style influence of the Beatles and Twiggy, the 1960s introduced a lot of new trends that have carried over to today.

Prior to the British invasion in 1964 sixties fashion was a continuation of the late 1950s. But with the Beatles came a new and very different fashion influence not Paris or Milan but "swinging" London. The brand new post war "babyboomer" generation was proving that it was a power to be reckoned with.

Last updated at 08:26 21 February 2007 Big sister Peaches is known for her grungy look on the party circuit. But Pixie Geldof appears to be looking to a different role model for fashion inspiration. Seen strolling around the streets of central London, the 16-year-old brought to mind a style icon who became famous at the same age - Twiggy.
