Online reading site for very beginning readers. Definitely geared toward kids, but students can read/listen at the same time -- a big plus in my book. Free, no registration required. A lot of non-fiction, which helps "up" the level a little bit.

Thought the topic was interesting -- shows plagiarism happens at all levels, across cultures and socioeconomic classes, but also the reference the senator makes to PTSD playing a part in it. Whether it did or it didn't, and it doesn't make plagiarism acceptable, it's a good reminder that are a multitude of reasons people choose to "cheat".

These could be used to spark a lot of discussion using comparatives and superlatives...plus probably just conversation in general!

Fun short video to use with past/past progressive. Probably lots of other structures too, but that's the first that came to mind.

If you used to use "Connect with English" in the lab, you know that our computers won't allow access to it anymore. Here's a workaround if you still want to use it. Your students can go directly to this website and there are activities for them to do after each episode. And it's free!

Written for K-12, most points are even more salient for adult learners, especially regarding tying content into real life applications. How many of our students ask "why am I learning to write a persuasive essay? I'm studying computer engineering".

Really interesting website for teachers and students. From their "About" section: "This site aims to provide students and teachers with information and ideas to assist them apply the Habits of Mind. Each of the sixteen habits is presented along with information on when to use each habit and strategies to make the process easy. Each page includes a short video that demonstrates the Habit of Mind and could be used as a starting point for discussion."

I love word clouds but am never quite sure how to use them effectively. There were some interesting ideas in here, especially the one about essay writing (#3, I think?)

This is focused on K-12 so assessment timelines would definitely need to be adjusted, but there are some very good ideas in here about how to identify individual student problems through carefully designed assessments and how to provide support for struggling students.

This is one of the fastest, easiest approaches to exit slips I've ever seen, and definitely worth thinking about.

I love the reminders in here -- I think as teachers we all can use a reminder of really great practices that we don't always remember to use. But...I really hate the title. I'd prefer to call it "11 Really Great Reminders for Fantastic Teaching". :-)
