I have let my own 4 year old son use www.pbskids.org, www.dailynoggin.com, and www.playhousedisney.com to increase his knowledge for preschool skills and to help him form his ability to comfortably use the computer and mouse. I think pbs and noggin tend to be the better two of the three. I am considering using these sites as I teach to do low level reinforcement activities in my kids free time (if there is any) instead of drills or worksheets. I would use the phone dialing game in the Curious George section of the PBSKids site, and certain games. Disney has some learning directed activities, but there are a lot of links that carry the child to something not suited for the classroom, like racing games or princess stuff. I probably wouldn't choose to use Disney site in a classroom setting. What sites would you recommend?

    Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a discussion that would help us all bookmark some good Elementary Education sites. If you use any good sites while teaching to either supplement your lessons or to let your children visit to learn, please talk about them here. Why is it that you think they are valuable, and are they safe for children to use (for example, safe meaning free of links that could lead to other unsuitable sites and so on)? I have things such as www.pbskids.org because it is a safe site, with no offsite links, and it teaches so many things like how to count, how to do puzzles, how to learn sounds/letters/words, and increases computer usage skills. I hope this helps some of you.
