"The 1915(c) waivers are one of many options available to states to allow the provision of long term care services in home and community based settings under the Medicaid Program. States can offer a variety of services under an HCBS Waiver program. Programs can provide a combination of standard medical services and non-medical services. Standard services include but are not limited to: case management (i.e. supports and service coordination), homemaker, home health aide, personal care, adult day health services, habilitation (both day and residential), and respite care. States can also propose "other" types of services that may assist in diverting and/or transitioning individuals from institutional settings into their homes and community."

"The Assistive Technology Loan Program, operated by the Maryland Technology Assistance Program and the Maryland Department of Disabilities, assists Maryland residents with disabilities and their families qualify for low-interest loans to buy equipment that helps them live, work, and learn more independently."

"Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center offers state-of-the-art evaluation, consultation, and treatment programs for clients who require assistive technology to live, work and/or go to school as independently as possible. The WWRC Assistive Technology (AT) Program is part of the statewide Virginia Assistive Technology System, which provides services to individuals with disabilities across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Services are available to adolescents and adults, with an emphasis on work and independent living. In partnership with persons with disabilities and rehabilitation professionals, interdisciplinary Assistive Technology Teams provides comprehensive interdisciplinary technology assessments and customized technology services to improve a client's employment potential, foster independence, and promote full inclusion in society through the use of assistive technology."

"The Maryland Technology Assistance Program (MDTAP) is a program run by the Maryland Department of Disabilities. Our mission is to enhance the lives of all Marylanders with disabilities, older Marylanders, and their families by helping support access to assistive technology (AT) devices and services."

Funded by the Administration for Community Living, Administration on Aging of the US Department of Health and Human Services, State Lifespan Respite Programs or Projects are run by a designated state government lead agency, which works in collaboration with a state respite coalition and an Aging and Disability Resource Center. Their purpose is to implement statewide systems of coordinated, community-based respite for family caregivers caring for individuals with special needs of all ages. Thirty states and the District of Columbia have received Lifespan Respite grants from ACL/AoA and they are identified below with their contact information.

The Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness established CAP in 1990 as the centrally funded reasonable accommodations program for employees with disabilities in the DoD.

Easter Seals' Military Family Respite Program provides a critically important service for military families whose children have severe disabilities.  Juggling the special care of their children with the demands of service to our nation places these families at the risk of burnout and other domestic challenges.  Our intervention provides families with "time off" from parenting and specialized support for their children, creating a healthy and stable home."

"A statewide support service for families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing In conjunction with a statewide support service, MSD houses this MSDE resource center on Frederick and Columbia Campus. The goal of the program is to help any Maryland family (including MSD families), professional, or service agency that needs help raising a deaf child. The center offers information resources and special events, hosts monthly workshops, and coordinates with service agencies statewide."
