    "You can't design a course with them, and you don't have good content without them." In too many organizations, this statement sums up the relationship with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). In order to create good courses, Instructional System Designers (ISDs) need good information and experience. As we know, tension often arises between the ISD and SME. In this series of articles, let's take a look at why these tensions exists, possible solutions, and methods of gathering SME information.
