So, I'm amazed by the fast movement into Diigo. I got the same kind of feeling the first time I used Twitter.
Now, how do we organize and better work together? I'd like to call for a meeting to discuss standardized tagging. Maybe Classroom 2.0 could host it. We should pick X number of tags the groups use and create rubrics or at least checklists to help us measure which category our resources fit. This will allow for a more structured approached for shared resources. I love to be innovative and work with new technologies, but outside of our networks, most people aren't this well connected.
Thought of the day: Are you really a leader if you don't know where the people are behind you. =)
MB - Really like this idea! We had talked about trying to standardize our tags and I really like that diigo gives us that ability! I feel a meeting coming on!

If this is done right, we can used the same system with every technology from Flickr to Diigo... from Wiki pages to YouTube. more thoughts?

I talked with Steve H from Classroom 2.0 and we are going to try and meet next week. Might be wise to combine efforts. The Classroom2.0 Ning has a lot to share. Let's see how we might combine brains. We've got lots of smart people in our networks.

Over the next week or so, I'm going to create links to our specific tag lists to compliment the resource section.
example: You'll be able to go to TeacherTube. Get a brief description. See some multimedia and then click on a direct link to see what the group has tagged for TeacherTube. Since the lists appear to let us rank our resources, we have a lot of group power in organizing.
Why not just save links to tags? There is no true consistency between sites. We have created a rough draft of a consistent format, we can then direct people to the additional links that we find.
Ultimate goal of the site: Dedicated to Building a Better Learning Community. Thoughts?

So I was Skyping Michelle Krill because of a tweet she sent about building a tag dictionary. The dictionary is a nice feature that can suggest tags, but it still doesn't answer the big question about how we can build more uniform tagging.
My first point was that any tag structure that doesn't follow a consistent/ specific format will become bloated. Take podcasting as an example. How do you separate the how tos, best practices and general podcasts from each other? If you tag all resources as podcast, you will need to read through your resources to find the examples. Once you hit 10+ tagged sources, are is this really making our lives easier? One suggestion I brainstormed was that we could add bp to the end of all tags that deal with Best practices. Michelle then chimed in with the concept of add-ons. We could create ending letters like w2 to relate to Web 2.0 and bp for Best Practices. This would work just like file formatting. This structure would allow for our tags to still be easy to search, but better organize themselves.
My second point was that people only truly need 3-5 resources for most tags. The listing feature can help this, but I think too much information makes things very bloated.
I would really like to schedule a meeting to discuss. What do people think?

We should pick X number of tags the groups use and create rubrics or at least checklists to help us measure which category our resources fit. This will allow for a more structured approached for shared resources. I love to be innovative and work with new technologies, but outside of our networks, most people aren't this well connected.
