    In order to ensure the relevance and influence the ongoing enhancement of user ICT provision and the associated awards, Digital 2010 (the regional digital skills partnership for Yorkshire & Humber) and the Scottish Qualifications Authority jointly commissioned Sero Consulting Ltd in spring 2008 to undertake research in ICT User skills. The focus was exclusively on the vision for ICT user skills in 2013 - referenced as 'Next Generation User Skills' - taking account of: * Skills that all employers will need, which they may not currently recognise - including web presence, information productivity, market research, infrastructure management * Skills that people (especially young people) will already have, but which may not be recognised or accredited * Generic occupational skills that people will need - such as remote working, online communication, information research, lifelong learning and, not least, management of their digital environment * Essential skills for living and learning in a digital age - including communication, accessing public services and underpinning personal econfidence

  • Certainly there is the entertainment element to this service, however I also see a great deal of potential for educational value as well. The Common Craft Show has shown us that hand-drawn explanations – completely devoid of a single on-screen pixel – can be used to effectively explain social media concepts. I think GoAnimate could do much the same.
  • I’m hoping that there will be a way to download the cartoons you create, and/or upload them to your YouTube account – because I prefer to keep all my digital media stored more or less in the same place.

  • By the time I left the FT I had spent the best part of six decades associating almost exclusively with people who had been to top universities and did grandish jobs and were all white. I sometimes felt sheepish about this but never thought it was my fault. I was merely a product of class, generation, education and profession.

    Think.com's safety lesson with nets standards. Think.com is excellent to use with younger students and is very walled and has an excellent profanity filter. I highly recommend it and have personally used it for a summer blogging project. Excellent site. It also requires an extensive verification process by the participating schools.
