There is no doubt that in this information era, globalization has impacted various societies and created competition among communities and individuals. Similarly, it has impacted education in various ways. As educators of adults, we ought to be alert to the challenges that globalization has produced for adult education. Similarly, we ought to be aware of the ways globalization is impacting the educational expectations for females, particularly in the many male-dominant societies.

For example, I, a female educator of adults in a conservative male-dominant society, have personally experienced as well as witnessed the following happening to women in my country. Even though the women are now expected to pursue an education and take on different jobs in the market, she is still marginalized when it comes to raises and promotions. And even now, when our local statistics demonstrate the rate of educated women has exceeded that of men by far, an educated woman is still expected to do all the following:

    a) undertake a job
    b) remain technologically competent and up to date
    c) pursue higher education
    d) make a family
    e) strive to please her spouse
    f) be the responsible parent for the upbringing of the children
    g) do all the house chores and cooking
    h) fulfill her cultural obligation to receive visitors any time of the day and entertain families on weekends and occasions

While she struggles to achieve her personal, professional, and academic goals, the spouse who may have or not have finished his basic education gets the better job, generates more income, gets the promotions, and earns the respect!

What I am interested in learning more about is the following: In what way is globalization impacting the educational expectations for females?
