Megan Desmond on 23 Jan 11I had originally posted a video by Sugata Mitra and then moved onto activity 3 and low and behold there was an earlier version of my video so I figured I should contribute something new. This blog post discusses whether Students should be just that or learners. Also what role does a teacher play? A teacher or also a learner?

Melissa Varholak on 23 Jan 11This article outlines the difference between students and learners. I think the best way to sum up students would be obligated sort of employees of the school while learners are more self-motivated inqusitive "students," for lack of better words. This idea was raised at a conference he was at when he was receiving a lot of resistance from educators. The reason this sparked my interest is because I think this speaks to the type of student today and how teaching and the classroom should be. They are perfectly capable of being learners instead of students, but it almost seems like it has to be the goal of the teacher, the environment they create, the standard they set, and the way they treat/view the "students" to achieve this.
