Off Kathy Schrock's Blog homepage is the story of a unique art/technology project she completed over the last year. And just when we were discussing over the discussion board abut using Google Reader to manage art portfolios and on-line art shows, I thought this was a wonderful tie in. The link I am book-marking here is Schrock's educational guide which is linked off her blog - although I found her actual blog entertaining, I thought this link would be more helpful and beneficial to the class at large… there are wonderful links and ideas off this page for any number of educational ideas and inspirations!

TED Blog - 0 views

  • Jessica Mayberry is the founder of Video Volunteers, which trains rural Indians to use filmmaking to drive social change in their communities. The films have fostered some remarkable improvements in the villages, but according to Jessica, some of the most impressive changes are in the filmmakers themselves.

The TED blog site has links to view TED speakers from the conferences and articles about TED participants and their latest ventures. There are so many great links on this site but I saw a great link to Jessica Mayberry's work with rural Indians using filmaking to drive social change in their communities.

10 Technology Enhanced Alternatives to Book Reports - 0 views

10 Technology Enhanced Alternatives to Book Reports by Kelly Tenkely gives 10 various technology incorporated alternatives to the traditional "book report". This resource can be found on TipLine in a post by Jim Gates. Not only does the article give many entertaining and thoughtful alternatives to the traditional book report, but is also allows for differentiation for students who may struggle with writing skills but show strong comprehension abilities and interest in technology. Specifically, in an elementary classroom, I think it would be very interesting to use the first idea which enables students to create a cartoon version of the book they just read. This would be very fun with students who are beginning to read chapter books as well as students who are not yet well versed in writing.
