TED | Talks | List - 2 views

Registering for TED.com is free and open to anyone worldwide. With site membership you can create a profile page, contact other members, join the conversation on individual talks, save items to your favorites, and more. The user community, usability, aesthetic appeal, and quality of the content is all great! This site inspires new and innovative ideas, and can be appealing to teachers and students. I think it can be a great learning tool and provide for good discussion in higher grades, especially high school students. TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

Tools for Differentiation / FrontPage - 0 views

A great differentiation resource, this wiki has all of the information contained in our book and more. With templates for many of the related strategies discussed and everything you need to know and how to do it. A free web resource this really is a great, easy to navigate wiki for all to use for free - but no support is available - but none needed. Aesthetically the wiki has a very nice design and i believe students in High School and above might take some interest in this site. Published two years ago the content is right up to date and of good quality.

This is a free search engine design by librarians just for kids. This search engine produces only kids friendly results and it a great tool to use if the student is to be "protected" from inappropriate content sometimes returned by known search engines such as yahoo, google and what not. The website is free and user friendly. The student can also chose under what topic would the search be and narrow down the search. I love it!

It appears that sparknotes was originally designed to be used as a footnote - intended to summarize books required for reading. This site is well organized and easy to use and students would be crazy not to use this site. It is organized intoseveral tabs - Spark notes guides (provides summaries and analysis - 500 guides for Literature and a number for History, Math, and Biology), No Fear Shakespear, SparkCollege (info on colleges including intro videos0, Test prep (for standardized tests), Flashcards, Miss Marm (writing help), Spark Test (self-evaluation), and Spark Life which is all about school life. It appears to be free with up to date valid information and all your support questions can be answered under the help tab.

Free classic literature at you fingertips on this beautifully designed web site. Very straight forward and simple to use, anyone at any age can find a classic here. Very little support offered as this is really just a list of books you can read electronically. I think its great because you can read all the classics and learn what good literature is here. Great for students.
