Courtney, did you happen to scroll down the page and read on? There are very simple approaches to BBL that any teacher could begin using right away. I really like the idea of "relaxed alertness" and "active processing."

I use this site for writing exercises in my reading class, and they are great to spark discussion and open my kids' eyes to events around the world. If you're having trouble getting your kids to write, try this!

This is a great resource to allow students to work at their own pace.  It reinforces quick recall of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems.  It is great for both elementary and middle school students.

This website is a great resource for Spanish teachers of all grade levels. There are lesson plans, games, activities, and helpful insight on how to incorporate literature and culture into the World Language classroom. I have also found the resources targeted for new teachers very helpful. There are also resources and posts for veteran teachers. I appreciate that this site also provides teachers with motivation and encouragement.

This resource is great for any teacher teaching phonics! There are free printables, vowel and consonant rules, worksheets, and lessons that will help your students succeed with phonics instruction. I use this often in my classroom and with my students. I find it very helpful in giving me a good resource and worksheet to use as well as sound phonics rules to help with instruction.

I love how this website provides lessons that make math more relevant to our students. I haven't used any of the lessons from start to finish, but I've used bits and pieces of each lesson and love the ideas I get from this website.

I love love love both the NYTimes educational supplementary materials and the fact that they exist. Recently I tweaked a Times lesson plan on writing your own obituary to help the students set goals. As we move toward the Core Standards, it's more important than ever for kids to read non-fiction and journalism.

Students create an Amazing Race challenge for another class. Students are put into production groups to create a show segment for The Amazing Race.Each group represents the different United States regions, investigates the various types of geographical regions, creates a digital poster or poster board presentation to be posted on classroom wiki for study reference, include an "artifact" (e.g. geographic tools/ technologies, stories, songs, and pictures) to further describe their specific region. As a class, students will present their final product and regional artifacts to another class as an Amazing Race challenge.

$10 app but so worth it. This gradebook is really awesome and helpful. It's the only one I have found that lets you exempt grades for absences, etc. And if you're technologically challenged like me, it is very user friendly! I thought I would share it with you guys!
