Student created wiki. Thomas Cooper is the teacher behind this project. He teachers at the Walker School in Marietta, GA. Many people believe that child labor and abuse is something of the past, but there could not be more of a false statement. Around the world children are being marginalized, and abused, and forced into labor. Children in Africa are being forced to join the military and kill children and adults alike. Other children are living on the streets because their parents' lives were taken by the AIDS virus. And due to India's class system, young children will live in poverty with no possible way of hope in the future. Children are even forced into prostitution and labor. Childhood deformities and disabilities cause affected children to live in isolation and cause pain and suffering for both them and their families. EduCon 2.1 is both a conversation and a conference. And it is not a technology conference. It is an education conference. It is, hopefully, an innovation conference where we can come together, both in person and virtually, to discuss the future of schools. Every session will be an opportunity to discuss and debate ideas -- from the very practical to the big dreams.

A host of sessions from this year's NECC 2008 conference are going to be live streamed via Mogolus, UStream.tv and other tools. If you can't make this year's conference (or if you want to double up on your learning while in San Antonio) plan to tune into these sessions. If you are going to be streaming out a session, please add it to the "TV Guide" below so people will be able to find it. Additionally, please send links to recordings of these presentations to e-mail@edstream.tv in order to have them added to the EdStreamTV channel (to the right) as well as the On Demand library.

Planning wiki for organizing ideas to support a project in Africa as a result of Sharon Peter's work there this summer through Teachers Without Borders. Want to organize donations of books, XOs, school projects, wikis and blogs to support the teachers there, etc. Open for all to join. Initiated in the WOW2 webcast on 8-19-08

We are organizing a new group of edubloggers and other educators to expand the partnership that Sharon Peters and Konrad Glogowski began in South Africa this summer with Teachers Without Borders. We need lots of volunteers to contribute to the planning and implementation of this. Please join us and share your ideas. We can make a difference and these teachers need our support.
