There are many reported cases of the toxic poisoning from mesitylene. It is also used as an insecticide, an anti-coagulant, a disinfectant, an anti-inflammatory agent and as a pesticide and it is quite harmful if ingested or absorbed through the skin. So, it is quite useful for medicinal chemistry although the therapeutic activity has not been established.
