Another article explaining the value and reasons for developing a PLN. PLN's offers two additional benefits beyond what traditional personal development can do. For one, educators can personalize their training and networking with other practitioners. Educators are able to share knowledge which helps to build relationships.
I really enjoyed reading this article. It is a great explanation of PLNs and their use within education. I enjoyed the quote: "There is an enormous difference between "connected" teachers who have established their own Personal Learning Networks and the instructors who subsist primarily on the antiquated, impersonalized modes of traditional development."
Hi, Jana- I really appreciated the point you, and the article made, about using PLNs to help "build relationships." Building relationships is vital, both as teachers and as students in the classroom. We all need trusting, and knowledgeable, peers in our lives to help us through this crazy thing called life!
The value I found in this article is that the author describes the additional two benefits traditional personal development cannot. They are that a PLN allows an educator to completely personalize their training and "the "network" portion of a PLN indicates the high degree of symbiotic relationships that such personal development depends on."
