This site does a great job explaining PLNs by subsequently inviting you join one and then helping explore many more niche sites related to PLNs. I especially like the video included on this site by Darren Elliot which explains these networks, what they include and how they occur.

This is a collection of resources on connectivism. It contains quotes, interviews and a summary of the theory. It states here that the capacity to learn more is of more value than what is already known. The focus is on creation.

This video provides a run-down of examples of Communities of Practice. Some of which we trivial and some of which that changed the video creator's life. The nature of these communities implies that there can be a network of CoPs to help users identify which CoPs would be useful.

Dr. Wenger talks about his Community of Practice. This discussion gives us an outline of how skills be shared through a CoP. According to Dr. Wenger, the CoP creates an on-going network of resources to communicate problems and discuss solutions. The learning and knowledge sharing can even create knowledge creation as solutions are discussed.

This article is an outline of Communities of Practice with description of relevant terminology outlined and defined. Identifies the three components of CoPs - domain, community and practice. This article says that the central component of this learning theory is to draw participants deeper into the community through the attractiveness of developing skills relative to the domain.
