Education World: Technology in the Classroom | Technology Integration Ideas that Work - 2 views

  •
This site provides ideas on different technologies that can be integrated into the classroom. I like how it also address adminstrators, as all school personel should be on board with supporting technology integration.
  •
This is a great resource for those trying to integrate more technology into their classrooms. When everyone is not on board with technology integration then it makes it hard on those one or two trying to integrate it.

Schools Turn to In-House Experts for Tech Training - US News and World Report - 0 views

  •
Great article on schools using teachers to help teach others in the school about different areas in technology that they are competent in. My only thought was that it really should have gone further and reported on schools using its students to train the teachers and fellow classmates. We have a school nearby that has a class on basic computer repair and then the students then spend one hour a week going around the school helping out the teachers. Really cuts down on expenses and students have a sense of pride and a useful and marketable skill!

Growing Up Digital: How the Web Changes Work, Education, and the Ways People Learn - 0 views

  •
I appreciate the example that John Brown lays out in his paper "Growing Up Digital". He speaks about the Xerox company sending in anthropologists to study how tech reps fix broken machines. They learned it is all about the communication and storytelling, never do reps use the manual. After developing an online presence for tech reps (CoP) to communicate, Xerox saves $100 million a year while the learning curve of the reps has grown by 300%. This is a great case study to get a better understanding of a CoP analyzed and at work today.

Howard Rheingold | Exploring mind amplifiers since 1964 - 0 views

One of the first resources I found when starting my Edtech journey and when creating curriculum for an online course in social media marketing. Rheingold has been around a long time and experimenting with social media and emerging communication tech for himself. His "crap detection 101" course is useful for faculty and students.

Faculty Perceptions of Technology in Higher Ed - 3 views

  •
This paper explores faculty views with respect to tech literacy, tech training, and pedagogy. The upshot is that to more broadly integrate technology in higher ed, more effective faculty training is required.
  •
I really like the point within the paper where they identify the aspects that must be considered when training in a teacher. He states four main points about technology teacher training that I think are really relevant in where education is going today. 1. Education training takes considerably longer to learn than learning a new teaching model. 2. Access to technology at home and at school is essential. 3. Fear of the unknown must be addressed. And 4. The use of technology will force teachers to re-conceptualize the way in which they teach. I think these are 4 very interesting talking points when looking at the use of social networks and highlights the importance of using CoP's and Learning Networks to have each group benefit.

This research was published by the U.S. Department of Education on the role on Online Communities. Essentially, the research found that online learning Communities of Practice produce a wide range of values for educators, including immediate and potential value. The primary focus of this research was the role of Community Designers and the questions, concerns, and topics that must be addressed when creating a successful learning community involving educators. While member participation is the key to a successful community, there are other factors that play a major contribution in a group's success as a learning community that are addressed in this research.

Technology Integration for the New 21st Century Learning | NAESP - 0 views

This is an article that discusses the 21st century learner. It is an interesting article and was written recently.

This is a really good article on Tech Integration that I came across on the National Association of Elementary School Principals webpage. It explains technology integration and its benefits. It also lays out a plan for how administrators can begin to "develop a progressive technology-infused program." Though the article was written in 2012, I think it's just as relevant today as when it was first published.
