I tried to post this on our discussion forum but couldn't find the 'new post' button ?? Anyway, these are the main topics for our categories from what I could see. What do you think we could do with them?

Professional Development (3), Lessons/Lesson Plans (3), Blogs (2), Resources (2), Videos, Internet Activities, Printables, PowerPoints, Smartboard Lessons, Online Activities, Graphic Organizers, Extension Activities, Continuing Ed, Background Knowledge, Objectives, Anticipatory, Wrap-Up Activities, Miscellaneous, Clearinghouse, Concept Mapping, Elements, Enrichment, Fair Use, Interesting Miscellaneous, Learning Games, Networking, Podcasts, Student Use, Teaching.

Well, there you have it. Any ideas on how we can bring it all together? What topics seem to go together? That might be a place to start!

I think that is a fair representation of each of our systems. I like the addition of the Miscellaneous for those resources that we're just not sure where they fit at. The Lessons heading incorporates probably the bulk of our systems, but it is broken down into more specific and manageable terms.

Clearinghouse was mine...it was a way for me to tag sites that were central collection sites of many web sites (i.e. podcast clearinghouse contains links to 50 podcasts). Maybe we can list them with databases, listservs, newsgroups since they're kind of similar).

The hardest part for me was deciding when to tag things as instructor or student because so many sites offer both...I think that's why the WELES text labels sites as: Site Elements, Network Elements or Organized Sites. Organized sites can be a combination of the two.

Fair Use could list all copyright free resources: clipart, fonts, photos, etc.

    Cathy,
I posted a reply on his as well as this one. I think that if we refocus back to the main task (as you were saying) of getting a classification system of instructional and learning sites instead of all of the extra ones that we were wanting to include it simplifies the situation.
In relation to my topic of Background knowledge, I had it as one that could be teacher or student knowledge depending on the level of the site. This could easily be differentiated by including it under student use or teaching/lessons depending on the level of the site.
