Humm - this could be a meaningful, real-life project for assignment 3. Involving students in the marketing campaign to return these insects back onto Lord Howe Island. Researching the insects, producing videos, posters, podcasts, - lots of options here...

Some useful information for external students

There is a programme I have heard about called something like 'self-control'. Apparently it allows a student - or their parent - to lock a computer out of a site for a specified period of time, such as 60 minutes, to help the user exercise self-control and get their homework done. Has anyone else heard of this? It would be very welcome in my house!

I think I would use this for myself! I always end up shopping or on facebook when I'm trying to study!

I had to smile when I saw this link come across my desk today (via a Diigo group I follow).  What a coincidence (or fate?) This is one way Google docs could be used in your future classrooms and this is what our Rockingham students did in a very small way today. They started their journey as "Google Jockeys" by adding their own notes about the dscussion questions to the tutorial plan.

Edutopia. Good article about using videos in the classroom and links to sites with educational videos. This could be a good place to start your research for your video resource for assignment 2 and/or useful for assignment 3 :)
