This is the CIA's Word Factbook, filled with lots and lots of data on every country in the world. It's very helpful for Geography, Political Science, and History classes. We looked at it in class, so I figured I would bookmark it!

Great website to learn about the history of presidents. I could also spark a good writing lesson on "if you were president what would you do." Students could really take this website into their own hands and learn through exploration of it.

Funbrain (and counterparts like Mathbrain) is a fun, interactive game environment where students can go to brush up on skills already taught or attempt new ones based on teacher guidance. The site offers a curriculum guide and standards finder in order for teachers to properly target the games. Games can be played in conjunction with lessons in the classroom, or students can benefit from using the program in the computer lab or at home.

From the people that brought us Hot Potatoes comes Quandary, an application used to make web-based acion mazes that allow users to progress based on choices they make.

EconEdLink is run by the National Council on Economics Education and is a clearinghouse for Economics lesson plans, which are usually surprisingly good, given that Economics teachers have to try twice as hard for engagement! Haha!

This website lays out the framework for completing Project Based Learning projects. Teachers are assisted through identifying learning, constructing assessments, designing activities, designing the process, and planning for management. The site provides a lot of direction for integrating technology in the classroom.

Garageband is Mac only, but it's a powerful recording program that comes preloaded on all new Mac computers. It's really easy to get podcasting with it because it has integrated iTunes support and easy internal mic recording.

Though this is a pay site (it's not very much--$20/2 years), Questgarden allows the user to create WebQuests, including supporting documents like rubrics.

Nice animal information... some articles include animal sounds and links to videos of the animals in the wild.

This interdisciplinary lesson plan (civics, health, and science are covered) helps students pick apart myths about science that arise on the campaign trail. Obviously, it's time-sensitive, but it's important for kids to know that what candidates say is not always, well, the truth, particularly when it comes to science.
