Discovery Education Streaming Login - 0 views

  •
The ability to display images, video, and sound on demand with little download time has proven itself essential to the classroom teacher or instructional technologist looking to bridge what is said to what is seen and heard. Using MPEG compression technology through a broadband connection, streaming media, such as that provided by Discovery Education Streaming, readily provides students the opportunity to see/hear prerecorded movies, music, and excerpts from online libraries more extensive than any school media center. Live broadcast feeds enhance classroom experiences through real-time experiences and interactions with other students or experts. Online classes utilize streaming technology, as well.

Very interesting project that well help students make personal connections to historical events. Students interview family or friends about life experiences related to world or local history. It is interesting to read what students in other parts of the world have written about events we are familiar with. I would love to see them organize the family stories by events as well as countries.

Preserving the Landscape of Childhood in Spite of Computers - 0 views

  •
This is an interesting article, as it offers a counter-argument to technology integration in all facets of the school experience, as least in the early years. The author makes a good point about young children being over-exposed to computer generated stimuli at such an early age, and he postulates the problems that ensue because of it. He refers to the "erosion" of childhood for marketing/money making purposes that benefit technology companies. He doesn't think software should replace good, interactive teaching.

University of Georgia Cooperative Extension - 0 views

If you have an issue or questionrelated to anything involved agriculture, agribusiness, or family and consumer sciences within the state of Georgia, then it's good to turn to the Cooperative Extension Service, based at UGA. My dad was an Extension Agent and they can provide valuable information and hands-on experience to a classroom setting. In fact, that's what they are there for, going out in the field and passing along the research of the university!
