I decided to write my paper on the achievement gap and how poverty affects education. Here are some of my sources:
Eaton, Susan. The Children in Room E4. Chapel Hill: Algonquin
Books of Chapel Hill, 2007. Print.
Lacey, O. "11 facts about education and poverty in america." Dosomething.org. Dosomething.org, 2011. Web. 28 Mar 2012. .
Ladd, H. F., and E. B. Fiske. "The unaddressed link between poverty." New york times. New York Times, 2011. Web. 28 Mar 2012. .
"Poverty is Rooted in US Education System, Research Finds." Science daily. Kansas State University, 2009. Web. 28 Mar 2012.
"School Finance." Research center: Issues a to z. Education Week, 2011. Web. 28 Mar 2012. .
Stuhldreher, Anne. "Kindergarten to College (K2C) A First-in-the- Nation Initiative to Set All Kindergartners on the Path to College." New America Foundation. N.p., 2011. Web. 28 Mar 2012. .
Good sources. I used our book as well to help with my paper and found an interesting article to tie back to some of the unequal opportunity it discusses in the book. My topic geared toward a broad overview of all stigmas placed in the 'unequal' public education area and factors that may make it that way, as well as ways to improve.
