Solar System Scavenger Hunt - Third Grade - 0 views

  •
I am considering this as another possibility for my authentic assessment. I have one assessment about the constellations and I would like one about the planets. This one is simple, but asks pertinent facts that should be found through our exploration of Google Sky. This could also be a handout for students to take with them. Cynthia

This is a video that I will incorporate into my presentation. This introduces Google Sky to students and gives basic navigation information for the constellations and the planets. I like it better than some others because it uses the application we will be exploring during the workshop. Cynthia

The Solar System - Astronomy For Kids - KidsAstronomy.com - 0 views

  •
This is one of two sites that I will be using in my Graphic Organizer and Presentation. This site is a compilation of various astronomy resources, games, and presentations for kids. I love it because it has very bright graphics and is easy to navigate. This will be the introduction to the Solar System which will give the students information to use in their authentic assessment. They can view this via my laptop with the LCD Projector and a large screen. Although it will be a visual or graphic, it will also be part of the presentation. The graphic organizer will be the actual tabs that will show pictures of the different planets and then we will click on each planet to view more information which will be needed in the authentic assessment. Tools for Teachers - 0 views

This site will allow me to create quizzes for assessment. Because there are a variety of tools on the site, I can choose from multiple choice, true false, etc. This will allows me to use a variety of assessment tools. Theses quizzes can also be shared with participants to use in their classrooms. I would create quizzes both in regards to APA and in regards to the topic if each workshop.

This Web 2.0 tool is a pseudo-moving making tool using JPEG slides to make videos. This tool will come in handy in two respects. The first to make promo videos advertising the presentation. This will give possible attendees the chance to see what the presentations will entail. This would also be a good reminder since the workshop is split into five different presentations. The second way that this tool can be used is basic how to videos. Because the graphics move a little fast on this tool, the how to videos will have to be very brief and taks specific. Jing or Vimeo might be better options for how to videos.

Write Design Online Graphic Organizers - 0 views

This site has basic graphic organizers. There are also descriptions of each organizers and how to use it most effectively. For the multimedia presentation, I would use this to help give alternatives for presenting the information. This would be a good tool to share with participants for their use as well.

This is an overview of APA. The use of this site is a basic overview. It will give the participants a chance to look at the basics prior to the presentation. It will also show the participants the basic of research style. This can help them with the basic concepts of what are needed for a research paper. This site also has links to even more basic tutorials and help sheets on APA style. There are no interactive quizzes. This is a good site for pre-training as well as retraining.

APA Style - 0 views

This is the tutorial for APA 6th edition. The user can choose the basic or the "I know some" option. This would allow me to have participants to do the basic (I am new to APA) tutorial and get a basic understanding prior to the workshop. There are interactive quizzes to assist with this as well. This would also be a good site to use with student participants to gauge their understanding of APA. This would allow for retraining or accelerated training based on student knowledge.

Movie Maker allows users to turn home movies into feature films of sorts. The user has the ability to add a soundtrack, narration, text, and other graphics to their home movies. This is an effective tool to use for digital storytelling because users have access to turn their words into so much more.

Amimoids 3D has a free one month download. This software allows individuals to create cartoon movies of stories they want to share. It is effective because students can effectively tell their story using media technology.

Skype - 0 views

Skype allows video conferencing between participants and students sharing sample media projects. By initiating motivation for the workshop through synchronous communication with student experts, participants experience generative processing. This procedure will demonstrate the purpose of the workshop and increase motivation for participation. Skype is free, available on my school server, and easy to install and use.
  •
Skype has become very popular because of the easy (and free) access to video and audio conferencing. It can potentially be used for conferencing calling a presentation. Also, students could work together closely from home because of the ability to hear each other while surfing the Internet looking for resources for the project.

Assignment#3 A list of different graphic organizers are divided according to grades and topics.
  •
Teacher vision has many activities at your fingertips that are ready to print out. I use the site to look for various graphic organizers to create handouts for students. It is effective because I do not have to reinvent the wheel and most of the graphic organizers work well with what I teach.

Brain Pop will show intructory cartoon videos of various topics. This is a quick and easy way for students to get a glimpse of what is being covered in class. Brain Pop also has quick quizes at the end of the video to check for understanding. Brain Pop is a great pre-training activity that students can look at to get a better understanding of the topic.
