www.ixl.com is a website that generates practice questions for students based on their individual states' mathematics and language arts standards. This website allows students to earn virtual awards based on their progress. I am an elementary school teach in Georgia. I find this to be a very helpful tool for preparing students for the CRCT test at the end of the year. This website has updated its curriculum to match the 2012 Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in mathematics. Mayer (2009) states that meaningful learning occurs when people engage in active cognitive processing. This website focuses on cognitive activity so therefore it is learner-centered.

www.arcademics.com is a website that houses online educational video games that offer a powerful approach to learning basic math, language arts, vocabulary, and thinking skills. I have taken my students to the computer lab at my school to use this website. Students can create a race where they actually compete against each other to see who can finish first. Certificates can be printed that show what place the students finished, their time, and their accuracy. This website focuses on cognitive activity and is learner-centered.

www.quizlet.com uses different study modes to help students learn. Students can create flashcards to review, play various games using the content they need to learn, and take practice quizzes. There is also an option that allows the students to keep track of what they are learning and review the concepts they got wrong. This website focuses on cognitive activity and is learner-centered.
